Koi Macher Haro Gouri also called as Koi Macher Ganga Jamuna. It is a traditional Bengali fish recipe. Koi Macher Horo Gouri is the perfect way to celebrate any Bengali occasion. Here is a recipe of making this unique Bengali dish.
Ingredients of Koi Macher Horo Gouri :
- Koi fish- 4pcs
- Mustard paste- 1.5tsp
- Tomato puree- 1 small
- 1 Onion paste
- Slitted green chillies - 4 pcs
- Salt - As per taste
- Turmeric powder- 1.5 tsp
- Garlic paste- 1tsp
- Red chili powder- 1 tsp
- Cumin powder -1 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Ginger paste- 1/2
- Lemon juice/vinegar/1 tsp tamarind paste
- Mustard Oil - 1/2 cup
- Kalonji ( Kalo Jeera) - 1/2 tsp
- Chopped coriander leaves - 1 tsp
Instructions of making Koi Macher Horo Gouri :
1. Add salt and turmeric to fishes. Add oil to pan and fry fish lightly and keep aside. Now add 1.5 tbsp oil to a pan. Let it heat then add 2 green chillies, mustard paste and salt.
2. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Saute for 1 minute and add 1 cup of water. Boil for 3 minutes in medium flame. In another pan heat 2 tbsp oil and add kalonji, 2 green chillies.
3. Add garlic paste, onion paste, ginger paste and salt. Saute for 3 minutes. Now add tomato puree. Saute again for 3 minutes and add red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder. Saute for 2 minutes then add 1 tbsp water and let it dry then add vinegar when it dry and put off the flame. Add 1 tsp raw mustard oil to mustard gravy then add fish in the mustard gravy.
4. Add red gravy on the fish carefully. When mustard gravy will become thick put off the flame. Color and taste of two side of the fish is different. One side is tangy and other side is spicy.
