Ingredients of Pineapple Raita:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (curd)
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • A pinch of black salt (kala namak),
  • A pinch of regular salt to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey or sugar (for adjusting to taste)
  • ¼ cup pomegranate arils – optional
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions of making Pineapple Raita :

1. Prepare Pineapple: 

  • Peel and remove the core from the pineapple, then finely chop it into small pieces. 

2. Whisk Yogurt: 

Whisk the yogurt In a mixing bowl until it's smooth and creamy.

3. Add Spices and Sweetener:

  • Add roasted cumin powder, a pinch of black salt (kala namak), and regular salt to taste to the yogurt. Begin with a small amount of sweetener (honey or sugar) and adjust to your desired level of sweetness. Pineapple itself is naturally sweet, so you may not need much additional sweetener.

4. Add Pineapple: 

  • Add the finely chopped pineapple and half of the pomegranate arils into the seasoned yogurt mixture. Reserve the other half of pomegranate arils for garnishing.

5. Garnish: 

Garnish pineapple raita with the remaining pomegranate arils and chopped coriander leaves or fresh mint leaves before serving for a burst of flavor and a lovely presentation.

6. Serve: 

  • Now your Pineapple raita is ready to serve. Serve your raita immediately with spicy Indian dishes like biryani, curry or kebabs. You can also enjoy it as a refreshing side dish on its own.
