For the Fish Dumplings (Muitha):
- 1/2 kilogram Chital fish (Knife fish), deboned and minced
- 1 big onion, finely chopped
- 1 piece big Ginger paste
- 1 whole Garlic paste
- 8-9 Green chilies, finely chopped
- Cumin powder
- Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- Garam masala powder(as required)
- Salt, to taste
- 200 gram Mustard oil
- 1 tablespoon Rice flour or breadcrumbs (for binding)
For the Gravy:
- Mustard oil
- Onions, finely sliced
- Ginger paste
- Garlic paste
- Tomatoes, chopped
- Green chilies, slit
- Turmeric powder
- Red chili powder
- Cumin powder
- Coriander powder
- Garam masala powder
- Salt, to taste
- Water
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnishing)

Instructions of making Chital Macher Muitha :
1. In a bowl, combine the minced Chital fish with chopped onions, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilies, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt, and a drizzle of mustard oil.
2. Add rice flour or breadcrumbs to the fish mixture to help bind it together. Mix everything thoroughly to form a dough-like consistency.
3. Shape the fish mixture into small dumplings, either round or oval in shape. Keep them aside.
4. In a pan, heat mustard oil for frying. Fry the fish dumplings until they turn golden brown on all sides. Remove and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
5. In another pan, heat mustard oil for the gravy. Add finely sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent.
6. Add ginger paste and garlic paste. Sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
7. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and the oil starts to separate from the masala.
8. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Mix well and cook the masala for a few minutes.
9. Add slit green chilies and season with salt.
10. Add water to create a gravy of your desired consistency.
11. Gently place the fried fish dumplings into the gravy.
12. Cover the pan and let the dumplings cook in the gravy for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
13. Once the dumplings are cooked and the gravy reaches the desired thickness, sprinkle garam masala powder over the curry.
14. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
15. Serve Chital Macher Muitha with steamed rice or paratha.
